University to graduate first class in special needs program

Ashley Mabry, 35, who has autism and Asperger's syndrome, is graduating from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs this spring. Mabry is one of three seniors in the first cohort to graduate in May from an inclusion program Colorado lawmakers enacted in December 2016 to enable intellectually disabled students to become fully matriculated at three schools: UCCS, the University of Northern Colorado and Arapahoe Community College. Since the fourth-grade Mabry has known she wanted to go to college. "Having a disability shouldn't limit who you want to be," she said. (Chancey Bush/The Gazette via AP)
